How Do You Play Pot Limit Omaha
Once you master Limit Omaha Poker, you can start exploring others, but stick with limit for now. The fact is that you’re going to make some mistakes as you’re learning. Playing limit instead of pot limit keeps the cost of your mistakes lower as you’re learning. The first advantage you have in Omaha is the rules. The most common betting structure for Omaha is Pot Limit. Unlike No-Limit Hold’em, where you can bet all your chips at any point, in Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO), the maximum you can bet is the size of the pot. (The same minimums apply as in No-Limit Hold’em.) Unfortunately, calculating exactly how much the “pot limit” is in PLO is less.
Welcome to Pot Limit Omaha Strategies!
Welcome to Pot Limit Omaha Strategies, recently voted the best free Internet resource to help improve your PLO game. Over at our strategy section you’ll find an extensive list of articles to quickly make you a winning Omaha player, from basic tips on how to play the dreaded AAxx hands to more advanced discussions on topics that range from dealing with variance to deciding which cards to double barrel on.
Omaha is also played at set limit or pot limit (raises can be up to the current size of the pot). Though it is occasionally available, no-limit Omaha is rarely played. In this article, limit Omaha will be discussed unless it is stated otherwise. In standard Omaha High (and Pot-Limit Omaha), the high hand wins the whole pot - just like Texas Hold'em. Again, there are the hand rankings up above if you need a refresher. In Omaha Hi-Lo, the pot is split between the best high hand and the best low hand. As you might guess from the name above, there's also a catch.
Once you feel comfortable with your strategy then head to our “Where to play Pot Limit Omaha” section where we’ll show you which sites offer the softest tables and the biggest sign up bonuses.
